Bandprogramm

Wie schon 2008 runden auch dieses Jahr, neben Aufführungen und Performances, musikalische Beiträge das Festivalprogramm ab.
In der bau_werk Halle werden jeden Abend ab 22.30 Uhr und bei freiem Eintritt verschiedene Bands aus unterschiedlichen Genres auftreten.
Soul/Pop-Fan oder doch eher Freund elektronischer Tanzmusik? Bei uns ist für jeden Geschmack etwas dabei! Selbstverständlich wird auch für das leibliche Wohl gesorgt sein: Neben günstigen Getränken und Snacks bietet eine entspannte Atmosphäre genau den richtigen Rahmen, um einen ereignisreichen Theaterabend ausklingen zu lassen. Theaterbesucher sollten Ihre Karte des jeweiligen Abends mitbringen, sie bekommen einen bevorzugten Zutritt in die bau_werk Halle.

As in 2008, this year’s productions and performances should be topped off by musical contributions to the festival programme. In the bau_werk Halle, every evening from 10.30pm and free of charge, various bands of diverse genres will perform.
Are you a soul/pop fan or rather an aficionado of electronic dance music? We have something for every taste! Of course, we’ll also make sure that visitors don’t go hungry and feel good: apart from well-priced drinks and snacks, a relaxing atmosphere offer just the right setting to round off an eventful theatre evening.
Theatregoers should bring their tickets from their respective theatre visit to have preferential admission to the bau-werk Halle.

Apparatschik

Russendisko, aber live! Mit einem übermütigen Mix aus russischer Volksmusik, Rock, Polka und Ska begeistern die vier Freunde oljég matrosov, juri bajan, viktor bassjuk und fedia filipovich ihr Publikum. In Deutschland geboren, fließt durch ihre Adern immer noch das temperamentvolle und mystische Blut ihrer Vorfahren aus ›Machorka-Tabakistan‹. Ob Berlinale, Lowlands Festival oder Fanhochzeit: Egal wo apparatschik sich blicken lässt, die Bude ist voll. Nach dem großen Erfolg von pazz 08 freuen wir uns besonders über ein Wiedersehen mit apparatschik bei unserem diesjährigen Festival.

Russian disco, but live! The four friends oljég matrosov, juri bajan, viktor bassjuk and fedia filipovich set out to delight their audience with a flamboyant mix of Russian folk music, rock, polka and ska. Born in Germany, they still have the temperamental and the mystical blood of their forefathers in »Machorka-Tabakistan« running through their veins. Whether it’s the Berlinale, Lowlands Festival or a fan’s wedding: the place rocks wherever apparatschik appear. After their great success at
pazz 08, we are delighted to welcome apparatschik back this year.

Di Grine Kuzine

Di Grine Kuzine hat einen einzigartigen Sound. Er vermählt die Melodik und Harmonik Ost- und Zentraleuropas mit der rhythmischen Dynamik der Großstadt. Berlin Wedding, ihr inzwischen viertes Album, wurde vom Rolling Stone Magazine bis zur Jazzthetik gefeiert. Vor allem aber sind sie eine phantastische Liveband. Treibende Beats, messerscharfe Bläsersätze und »…der großartige Gesang von alexandra dimitroff « (WOM-Magazin) sind dabei durchwirkt von einem inneren Funkeln. Inspiration und Hingabe, Freude, Sehnsucht und Schmerz vermischen sich zu einem Ganzen. Mit charmanter Wucht bringen sie die europäischen Klubs und Festivals zum Kochen.
Das geht viel tiefer als Pop und ist schillernder als Folk. Es ist Musik aus dem wilden Herzen Europas, jenseits von Raum und Zeit.

Di Grine Kuzine have a unique sound, marrying the melodies and harmonies of Central and Eastern Europe with the rhythmic fervour of the metropolis. Berlin Wedding – their fourth album – drew huge acclaim from Rolling Stone Magazine right through to Jazzthetik. But most of all, they are a fantastic live band. Surging beats, razor-sharp brass and the »stunning vocals of alexandra dimitroff« (WOM Magazine) are infused with an exuberant inner spark. Inspiration and devotion, elation, anguish and yearning are all melted together. This irresistible force get sends audiences in European clubs and festivals wild. Digging much deeper than pop and burning much brighter than folk, it is music from the wild heart of Europe, outside space and time.

Skalinka

Die neunköpfige Ska-Formation skalinka ist die geborene Livemusik-Band, die einfach jeden zum Tanzen bringt. Ihr Stil lässt sich nicht auf ein Genre klassifizieren, da ihr Repertoire aus beinahe ausschließlich eigenen Stücken von Ska über Folk, Rock, Latin und Funk reicht, wobei sie aber stets ihren eigenen unverwechselbaren Sound bewahren: Klarer Gesang, treibende Bläsersätze, ein knackiger Offbeat von der Gitarre, ein verrücktes e-Piano, prägnante Bass-Lines und mitreißende Schlagzeug-Beats.

The ska-formation skalinka with its nine members is a truly live band that gets everyone in the mood to dance. Their style is hard to describe as their repertoire consists of mainly their own songs from ska to folk, rock, Latin and funk, whilst still managing to create their very own, unmistak-able sound: clear voices, driving brass sections, a crisp off-beat on guitar, a wild e-piano, moving bass lines and stirring drum beats.

Mardi Gras.BB

Die Mardi Gras.BB-Karawane macht sich auf, die einst so romantisch verklärten, nun längst kartographierten Geheimnisse der Welt von Neuem zu erforschen. Es ist eine Expedition entlang des Zeitstrahls, ins Herz der Finsternis und ein Abenteuer, das in der Essenz des Ich-Seins mündet. Mit Macheten, Sextanten und Barometern bahnen sie sich den Weg durch die Sümpfe einer eben erst kolonialisierten Welt, machen sich auf die Reise vom Flamsteed House bis in die erbarmungslose Hitze der Wüsten Afrikas, zu den süßlichen Morasten des Urwalds Südamerikas und zu der gewürztrunkenen Geschäftigkeit der Basare des Orients. Ein Kaleidoskop der Farben fächert auf, exotische Gerüche legen ihre Schwere in die Luft. Über ›Los‹ geht die Reise ins Unnahbare. Mardi Gras.BB haben bei Hazelwood Vinyl Plastics acht Alben veröffentlicht, ihren unheimlichen Hang zu den Vertiefungen der Seele in Blues, Folk, Funk und Soul gegossen. Von Humboldt Picnic betritt unbekanntes Land, wandelt auf neuen Pfaden. Hitziges Gefecht. Abenteuer Menschsein!

The expedition members of the mardi gras.bb set off to explore the once romantically glorified, now long since mapped secrets of the New World. It is an expedition along a timeline, an expedition into the heart of darkness and an adventure that flows into the essence of the self. With machetes, sextants and barometers, the expedition swathes its path through the swamps of a recently colonised world, travelling from Flamsteed House into the merciless heat of the African desert, to the sweet marshes of South America’s tropical rainforest and the spice-drunk bustle of the Oriental bazaar. A kaleidoscope of colours fans out; exotic scents lie heavily in the air. Once you’ve gone past ›Go‹, the journey enters the inaccessible.
mardi gras.bb have brought out eight albums with Vinyl Plastics, into which they have poured their eerie inclination towards the depths of the soul. Von Humboldt Picnic enters unknown territory and strolls on new pastures. Hot action.The adventure of being alive!

Rio Reiser Abend

Bis zum letzten Ton – Songs von Rio Reiser ist eine musikalische Reise durch das Leben eines Menschen, der Träume hatte und – das unterschied Rio Reiser von vielen anderen – mit allen ihm zur Verfügung stehenden Mitteln versuchte, diese Träume Wirklichkeit werden zu lassen. dominik schiefner, Schauspieler, Musiker und bekennender Reiser-Fan, hat Lieder von ton steine scherben und Rio Reiser für eine fünfköpfige Bandbesetzung arrangiert – immer mit dem Ziel, die Originale nicht zu kopieren, sondern für diese Band nachzuempfinden. Am Mikro steht shenja lacher, ebenfalls Schauspieler und dem Oldenburger Publikum noch bekannt aus Romeo und Julia.

To the last tone – Songs by Rio Reiser is a musical journey through the life of a person who had dreams and – the difference between Rio Reiser and many others – tries with all means available to make these dreams come true. dominik schiefner, actor, musician and avowed Reiser fan has arranged songs by ton steine scherben and Rio Reiser for a five-man band formation, always with the idea in mind not to copy the original but to appreciate them. On vocals is shenja lacher, also an actor by occupation.

Mently

Mently ist eine der neuesten Oldenburger Bandentdeckungen. Sie überzeugen mit einer erfrischend anderen Bandzusammensetzung: Neben Vocals, Gitarre und Klavier lässt die junge Formation auch Harmonica und Geige in ihre Musik mit einfließen. Das Ganze gibt einen erfrischenden und interessanten Mix und formt einen eigenen Stil, eben den von mently.

Mently is one of Oldenburg’s newest band discoveries. They captivate with a refreshingly different band composition: besides vocals, guitars and keyboards, the young group also adds harmonica and violin to their music. The resulting whole is a refreshing and interesting mix with its own style – the style of mently.

Lee Jay Cop

»We are the cops so fuck the police!« Die fünf Oldenburger Jungs christopher been jr. (Gesang und Gitarre), daniel cooks (Gitarre), c. von hillesheim (Girtarre), alex fox (Bass) und johnny sweeden (Schlagzeug) sind lee jay cop. Rock-Punk-Indie ganz groß!

Ihre Geschichte spielt überall und handelt nach eigenen Angaben von Haltung, vom Groove und von kämpfenden Hippies, die irgendwie klarkommen. In ihren Songs geht es um Mainstream, um »den fucking German Kleingeist« und um German boys, darum, nichts zu verlieren und alles zu setzen. Es geht um das große Ding und um nichts weiter als Rock’n’Roll.

Their story takes place everywhere and, according to the band, deals with groove and fighting hippies that somehow make it. Their songs are about mainstream, the »fucking German small-mindedness«, and German boys, about not losing anything and risking everything. It is about the big thing and nothing other than rock ‘n’ roll.

Testsieger

»Norddeutschlands Finest«. Das testsieger-Trio, bestehend aus jerry mono, derek vulcano und roleechlotse, präsentiert sein neues Album Laguna Fantasia. Die Gewinner von ›Deutschlands New Sensation‹ (2006) überzeugen mit Elementen aus Drum‘n‘Bass, Triphop und Spacesound, deutschem ElektroTrashPop und unterhaltsamer Performance. Hier trifft deutscher Elektropop instrumentales Rave- Drum’n’Bass-Geballer, hier bleibt kein Dancefloor leer!

Cruise

Cruise ist eine junge, aufstrebende Rockband aus Oldenburg, bestehend aus mike kaiser (Gitarre + Vocals), lennart janssen (Bass) und shannan van dijk (Schlagzeug). Seit etwa 3 Jahren schreibt die Band eigene Songs mit englischen Texten, die nicht selten direkten Ohrwurmcharakter besitzen – dabei vereinen sie verschiedene Stilrichtungen wie Funk, Pop oder Jazz mit dem Grundthema Rock und kreieren damit ihren eigenen, charakteristischen Sound. Zur Zeit ist die Band damit beschäftigt ihr erstes Album in Eigenregie zu produzieren – wir sind gespannt!

Cruise is a young, aspiring rock band from Oldenburg, made up of mike kaiser (guitar and vocals), lennart janssen (bass) and shannan van dijk(drums). For the last three years, the band has written its own songs with songs with English lyrics that are often very catchy – in doing so, the unite various styles like funk, pop or jazz with a background of rock and thereby create their own, characteristic sound. At the moment, the band is busy with its first own-produced album – we’re looking forward to it!

Abby

Die Mannheimer Band Abby, bestehend aus filou (Vocals, Gitarre), till (Gitarre, Cello, Vocals), david (Bass, Vocals), philipp (Rhodes, Synthesizer) und henne (Drums) haben schon Konzerte mit trail of dead, the virgins, everything everything und kissogram gespielt. abby haben Haltung. Sie schreiben großartige Songs. Sie sind einfach da und klingen nicht so, als wollten sie noch etwas lernen, sondern als könnten sie etwas erklären. abby vermitteln in Reinform das, was Musik im Kern vermitteln sollte: Emotionen. Die Songs sind herrlich vertrackt, die Musiker sind auf der Bühne so sehr in ihrer eigenen Klangwelt versunken, dass der Zuhörer sich dem Gefühl einer angenehmen Intimität nicht erwehren kann.

They write great songs. They are just there and don’t sound as if they want to learn something but as if they might be able to explain something. abby create the pure form of what music should create: emotions. The songs are fantastically tracked and the musicians are so involved in their own sound world on the stage that the audience can’t resist the feeling of a pleasant intimacy.
